From Scribbles to Simulation: How Nullset was born
Tori
Co-founder, NullsetYo! Tori here, one of the human behind Nullset.
There are some things that I have a big love-hate relationship towards, and studying is one of them. When it clicks it's fun, when it's accompanied by highly stimulating visuals, it's addicting. Often though, it's kind of plain; boring like a glass of lukewarm water.
The Problem That I Grappled With
-
Textbooks are graveyards for curiosity – Reading, I would say, isn't my cup of tea. Especially for STEM, it's genuinely fun when you dive into the concepts in real time with instant results. Yet it's often placed right onto a wall of text that caffeine cannot save.
-
The "uhh...what? moment" doesn't wait – Confusion almost always hits mid-lecture, mid-problem set, mid-panic. Not three days later at an office hour session, not after class.
-
Learning that's feels so static – It's been proven learning happens at very different pace for everyone, and everyone learns differently. Standardizing means someone will get left behind and I experienced this first hand.
The Bet
What if your messy lecture notes could come alive? What if you have someone always with you, ready to help you? What if you can start from 0 and reach mastery just with a spark of curiosity and a little bit of drive?
We built a system that takes anything (well almost anything) you have, PDFs, text files, raw notes, pictures, or even links and transforms them into something that feels like having the world's most patient tutor sitting next to you:
- Crystal-clear explanations delivered any way you like
- Step-by-step worked examples generated on demand
- Interactive 2D/3D graphs you can drag, rotate, and explore
- Live Python code blocks for instant "what if?" experiments
- Adaptive quizzes that don't just grade and cause dread, they teach and create drive
- An AI tutor that knows your specific syllabus inside and out
One of our early users put it perfectly:
"It's like my professor cloned themselves and gave the clone infinite patience."
Where We Are Now
- University pilots – Live courses at multiple institutions this semester
- Hundreds of students – Already using Nullset to study smarter. I use it everyday too.
- Zero ads run – All word of mouth (which, honestly, still surprises us)
- Continuous rapid development – I myself love experimenting with shiny new things, trust me when I say there's always something new
What's Coming
-
More pilots – If you teach STEM and want to test this with real students, reach out. We'll make it painless.
-
Your ideas – We're building this with the community, not just for it. The roadmap has room for your voice.
How You Can Help
Whether you're a student drowning in text spaghettis, an instructor wishing for more hours in the day, or just someone who thinks learning should be fun.
- Try it out – The platform's core features are out now.
- Share this – Know someone who'd care? Send it their way
- Talk to us – We don't bite at all and we'd love to have a great conversation: connect@nullset.app
If that sounds like something worth building, stick around. It's only the beginning.
